Prof. Tan Lee

Tan Lee has been working on speech and language related research for nearly 30 years. His research interests cover speech and audio signal processing, spoken language technology, deep learning models for speech and language, speech technology for healthcare, paralinguistics in speech, neurological basis of speech and language, etc.Tan Lee is specialized in research and applications related to the Cantonese dialect spoken in Hong Kong. He led the effort on developing Cantonese-focused spoken language technologies that have been widely licensed for industrial applications. His work addressed many challenging problems in multi-lingual and cross-lingual speech processing, e.g., code-switching, low- or zero-resource languages. Tan Lee’s recent works are featured by in-depth and substantive collaboration across a wide spectrum of disciplines. He is committed to apply signal processing and machine learning methods to atypical speech and language that are resulted from different kinds of human communication scenarios.

The Engineers, Karlsson and Justin

During their studies in Electronic Engineering at CUHK, Karlsson and Justin joined Paul’s team as Artificial Intelligence Engineer and constructed models for solving mathematical prediction problems. By fortunate coincidence, they also became involved in the project for developing the App “Angel Voice”, which later became know as “Vocofy”. In addition to enhancing the user experience for individuals utilizing the app, Karlsson and Justin’s ultimate goal is to revolutionize the world, and simplify lives through the transformative power of “Vocofy”.
